This year my dream came true and I got to Santorini. And is even better than all the comercials and pictures and slideshows and you name it... They have black and red and white beaches. And also the most beautiful sunset in the world. Sincerlly I never got to see the sunrise. But during the evening there are c couple of plces where people gather to see the sun going down. Hundreds of people. On this little vulcanic island you can find the sweetest wine in the world (traditionally called Vinsanto), the best food (I would`n trade it not even for the fanciest restaurant in France) and quiet places with very very nice and honest people. Where else in the world you get the ideea that the beach is only for you? Indeed there are so may beaches that you get to think that is your own private place.
The water is so clean and clear that you get to see all it`s inhabitants for sure. You think that is like one meter or something like that but then you realise that you can`t reach the bottom. And also so so salty. Very good for the skin and health in general.
The thing no one should miss is the trip to the volcano and the sailing part. I have sailed the Aegen Sea with a beutiful boat called the Adonis and the capitain was so greek. You could only see him and realise that he was greek. His face reminded me of ancient history and everything involved. So get your favourite music and enjoy the three hours trip among the blue water. If you like walking there are 280 stairs that you can climb from the port to the city. But if you are lazy you can always take the donkey. Very common transportation facility. And on many walls you find the sign: donkey station.
If you ever get the chance to get to Santorini don`t miss it. Enjoy heaven on earth. Only being here made me realise what it means to miss a place, to want to be there with all your heart.
