People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an animal rights organization. Based in Norfolk, Virginia, USA, and with two million members and supporters, the organization claims to be the largest animal rights group in the world.
PETA's slogan is "animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment." The organization focuses on four core issues: factory farming, fur farming, animal testing, and animals in entertainment. It also campaigns against fishing, the killing of animals regarded as pests, the keeping of chained, backyard dogs, cock fighting, and bullfighting.
PETA has developed campaignes against chains of fast-food such as McDonald`s, KFC, Burger King, Wendy`s. Also has convinced designers not to use fur in theirm collections and many Hollywood stars support this organisation.
